Fast fashion creates millions of tons of textile waste each year, but one Atlanta event is showing there's another way. The annual Trashion Show, hosted by Scrap Atlanta, features designers who transform recycled fabrics, leftover materials and secondhand textiles into one-of-a-kind runway looks.

Y'all were so interested in the mini SCRAPLET location of SCRAPLANTA that I just had to show you the main location in Tucker because it is MASSIVE. Seriously. If you love making cool art projects and you love being inspired to be creative--sometimes in brand new ways--then how have you not visited Scraplanta yet? This is the main location in Tucker, and I was absolutely blown away. There are so many fun projects and materials here to play with! Big shout out to Gina for her creative art-quilt demo, and to director Jonelle for welcoming me and letting you all know the importance of having a creative reuse store in our area and what amazing things you can expect to find! As a "Creative Reuse" center, Scraplanta takes in donations of your old, unwanted craft supplies and repurposes them by selling them back affordably to the community. This keeps art supplies out of landfills and allows community members to buy art and craft supplies at super affordable rate. The fun in it for shoppers is really the surprise of the hunt! Craft supplies can be expensive, but Atlanta nonprofit Scraplanta is working to make creativity affordable and communal.

What if cardboard, fabric scraps and other discarded materials could become your next cosplay masterpiece? Scrap Lanta is hosting a free Creative Reuse Cosplay Workshop at the Jonesboro Library, where participants can learn how to transform everyday leftovers into original costumes. Organizers say the event encourages creativity while keeping reusable materials out of landfills, proving you don't need a big budget to bring your favorite characters to life.
